Your project consists of things that need to get done. Maybe it's a few, maybe it's a hundred. In Qtask, everything that needs doing in a project is a task, and every task is assigned to a specific person or group of people. Tasks provide guidance, accountability, and history for your project. You define, assign, prioritize, track, and manage all project tasks and the people participating in them. Tasks can be described in detail and prioritized so everyone on the project understands what needs to be done, when, and by whom. Each task also includes a discussion section for those involved with the task so questions and comments are addressed immediately, in context. Every change to a task is automatically reported to you.
Features
Track Tasks
Easily track all of your tasks from start to finish. With the click of a button you can be notified when a deadline is approaching or when a task is late.
Accountability
With Qtask, both the task and the person or people accountable for accomplishing it are clear. When a task is assigned in Qtask, the assignee must accept the assignment, so expectations can easily be managed from the start, and progress is apparent.
Task on Calendar
When you’ve created a task, one of the best ways to stay on top of it is to attach it to your calendar. You can attach as many tasks as you like by choosing the option inside the task dialog box, and they will all be visible according to your specifications. You can have them appear on just one day, or on specified dates, or even as recurring tasks. This feature is like a to-do list and an alarm clock rolled up into one.
Independent Discussion
To help organize your conversations and task-related information, each task includes its own discussion area. Here you can exchange ideas and questions, or hold peer reviews related to this task and this task alone. If team members have questions, need clarification, or need to post information related to the task, all of that information is saved for future reference. You can link to any other task, as well as files and wikis, in your discussion messages.
Private Tasks
If desired, you can also create private tasks so only the people involved in the task can see the conversation. This is ideal for all things HR (contracts, invoices), as well as planning a surprise party for your boss or colleague!
Prioritize
To make sure every task is given timely attention, each one can be prioritized, which will give you a quick reference for the most urgent actions required.
Filters
You can filter all tasks by priority and then send the link for that list to a person to tell him or her what needs to be done or what changes need to be made, in what order.
Dependencies
Task dependencies allow you to establish relationships between tasks. You can create dependencies between any two or more tasks in a project, and use them to illustrate what must be done prior to a given task, as well as what will be done after the task is complete.
Task history
Want to review the life of a task? Every action in a task is automatically recorded so you can see who created it, when it was accepted, how long it took to complete, and what was changed in the process. Combine this with the 'organic' history of the task discussion thread and you've got an excellent record of the past, as well as a head start when you have to assign a similar task in the future.
Task roles
When you create a task, you establish who will be responsible for what. Qtask designates three possible roles for each task: Lead, Doer, and Watcher, so you can rest assured that all participants know what is expected of them.
Task link for posting in Discussion
Like other Qtask services, tasks have unique URLs which you can copy and paste into discussions for streamlined communications.
